If you live within reach of Salford and have time to spare why not consider becoming a volunteer?

Much of the work of the WCML would not be possible without the efforts of our steadily growing band of volunteers. Our volunteers come from a wide variety of backgrounds and range from teens to octogenarians. They include enthusiasts, activists and academics. We recognise that all our volunteers have many other commitments and we therefore provide opportunities for those with a few hours a month to spare as well as those with a few days a week. Work currently carried out by volunteers includes:

  • Sorting of material,
  • Providing tours,
  • Fundraising activities,
  • Photographic recording,
  • Assisting with research,
  • Staffing our management committee. and much else besides

If you can spare some time to help out please contact the library.

Become a Friend of the WCML

The Friends was established to enable those who support the aims and objectives of the library to demonstrate their support and give some financial assistance.

Friends are invited to regular events at the library and also receive the library's quarterly newsletter Shelf Life. An annual meeting is held each spring

Annual membership is £5.00. This should be sent to Dennis Maginn, the Library Treasurer. Friends are also invited to take out a monthly standing order where possible. The suggested monthly amount is £10.00 but all contributions are equally valued. The form can be found below.

If you have relevant material that you want to give to a good home where it can be made available to the public please contact the library.

One of the easiest ways to support the WCML is through our second-hand book sales. You can search our list of currently available titles.
If you have books you would like to donate please contact the library. All proceeds from book sales go directly towards book conservation and new acquisitions.
