Eric Northey's play, The Transit of Venus, directed by Alyx Tole, had its premiere at the 2012 24:7 theatre festival in Manchester. It is based around the lives of two North West astronomers, Jeremiah Horrocks (Toxteth) and William Crabtree (Salford), who though strictly amateurs, managed to both predict, and observe, the transit of Venus in 1639.

A performance of the play will be preceded by a talk from the author at 2pm, with a short Q & A session afterwards. £6 on the door (£5 concessions).
