In 1909 Manchester United won the FA Cup. During the summer that followed, United's players became involved in the battle for players' rights.

The story of how they refused to give up their union membership, putting their careers in jeopardy, is told in a pop-up banner which has been produced by the Library in conjunction with local community football club FC United of Manchester.  The banner is on display in the Library, and can be loaned to community groups on request.
