A brief history
1865 - United Operative Plumbers Association of Great Britain and Ireland was formed
1889 - Electrical Trades union was formed from a conference between the Amalgamated Society of Telegraph and Telephone Construction Men and the Union of Electrical Operatives
1911- United Operative Plumbers Association of Great Britain and Ireland changed name to United Operative Plumbers and Domestic Engineers Association of Great Britain and Ireland
1931 - United Operative Plumbers and Domestic Engineers Association of Great Britain and Ireland changed name to Plumber, Glaziers and Domestic Engineers Union
1946 - Plumber, Glaziers and Domestic Engineers Union changed name to Plumbing Trades union
1968 - Plumbing Trades Union and Electrical Trades Union merged to form the Electrical, Electronic, Telecommunication and Plumbing Union (EETPU)
1992 - Electrical, Electronic, Telecommunication and Plumbing Union merged with the Amalgamated Engineering Union to form the Amalgamated Engineering and Electrical Union (AEEU).
2001 - AEEU merged with the Manufacturing, Science and Finance Union to form Amicus.
2007 - Amicus merged with the Transport and General Workers Union to form Unite.
