Ewan MacColl: Biography

Born during the First World War and dying just before the first Iraq War, Jimmie Miller (Ewan MacColl) lived through many of the great events of the Twentieth Century. Here you will find a time line of his activities throughout that period.

The second half of his life was spent in domestic and creative partnership with Peggy Seeger. Her view of the man is to be found here in the form of a biography, and of a more personal appreciation she has called Songmaker.

Lastly, much of it in Ewan's own words, is a description of his childhood years and his early political activities between leaving school aged 14 and his first involvement with theatre.
